Ferrari California T

Screen Shot 2014-06-30 at 6.24.25It’s been 25 years since Ferrari didn’t turbocharged their engines. Actually, since the death of Enzo Ferrari. The last turbocharged engine they put into one of the most amazing super cars ever. The fabulous and so special F40. And it was mister Enzo Ferrari who ordered so back then.
But now they did it again. The Ferrari California T’s V8 engine as now 560 HP and hits 100kmh after 3.6 seconds. To pass 200kmh it needs only 11.2 seconds and top speed is 316 kmh. This is pretty cool!
They are talking about 10.5 l /100km but we do not really believe them. On the other side, if you buy this Ferrari for 409.888 $ you will probably not be short of fuel-cash…..so nobody really cares.
It has a sweet Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes with latest ABS technology that stop this beauty after 34 m if you glide at 100kmh.

The mid-front mounted engine gives it an ideal weight distribution of 47% front 53% rear, and they lowered the engine another 4 cm to optimize their center of gravity. All this gives the California T perfect traction and it is one of the greatest pleasures to feel the wind in your hair and the tires glued to the road while racing through the Italian mountain roads…..not talking about the sound that caress your ears…..it’s as close to petrol head paradise as it can get.
The rest is pretty much standard and absolutely beautiful. The leather finish and the feeling when you take a seat. A great work of Italian design and style. Electronics to choose if you race a track or if you are just cruising easy ( between race mode and casual cruising it’s like changing cars!! Very, very impressive! ) It’s a fantastic car, a perfect daily driver and a great GT. Our friends at Ferrari did a stunning job.
This car has everything to fall in love with……if there wasn’t its price tag.

The Jaguar F-Type

The Jaguar F-Type

A couple of years ago, when Jaguar was sold to India nobody really knew what  was going to happen to this beautiful brand so full of style, history and Britishness.

But than they reinvented the brand. New design, different and great looking cars. Most surprising. To me at least.
And then they came up with this beauty. The F-Type. It is some new version of the legendary 60ties E-Type, with a bit of a Porsche 911, some Lotus Elise, a little taste of an F 480, a tiny bit of a Corvette, hints of a Mercedes SLS and a blow of the Alfa C5. But most important…it’s a real Jaguar.
This car definitely is a lot of fun! You have the choice between a V6 with 340hp or 380hp ( you can imagine what version we prefer) both engines are compressor charged and the smaller engine will push you to a top speed of 260km/h.
. There are still a lot of other things to choose when you order it, like anywhere els
Screen Shot 2014-05-07 at 8.56.15Ian Callum did a great job. Usually a production car varies big time from it’s concept that you see at some auto show, not this one. Here it’s rather the opposite. The car looks pretty much the same as it’s concept car, the 2011 show car c-x16.e (color, leather, wheels, convertible, etc.), and once you’ve made your choice you’ll find yourself with a beauty on wheels.
I love the details and the well finished design, even of the smallest things and I very much like how you o
pen the doors. The convertible looks great, but if you look at the coupé this car becomes outstanding.Screen Shot 2014-04-01 at 3.48.17
Once sitting inside the Jag the design is rather conventional though. All the dials are good to read and everything is where you’d want it, though it looks a bit boring. The GPS is a little slow and not up to date and when you look in the back mirror you will see a lot of plastic. we have seen this done much nicer elsewhere!
But  when you push the start button the sound will make you get goosebumps, it’s just amazing. You can cruise along cool and enjoy the sound coming in through the open window. But if you push the Jag a little harder it seem to suddenly wake up to real life.  When the gearbox shifts you can feel it just the way we like it, and the staccato show effect sound that comes with it is just breathtaking. I am in love. The electronics still leave you enough freedom do drift controlled through curves before it gets you back on the right way (you can switch them off if needed! )Screen Shot 2014-04-01 at 3.49.51
This beauty is for sale at the dealer of your confidence for 67.000€, an additional 7000€ if you want the convertible. And then there is the R version. It has a % liter v8 with 550hp and a top speed of 300km/h. This one starts at 107.000€ and it comes with some nice racing features like a torque vectoring system, carbon fiber breaks and some other nice gadgets.
If I’d buy a car today, I know exactly what I would get….my son would be very happy….my wife probably not….. She’d want one for herself.
